The Creek Church

Christmas At The Creek Lighting

Songs:

What Child Is This:

Stark contrast of blue and orange / Strong backlight on the primary subject without face light for most of the song, then bringing up face light on the big final chorus and dropping it back to dramatic following.

Run Run Rudolph:

Bright reds and oranges, feeling very fun and playful overall.

Under The Tree:

Cyan and Yellow, also feeling very fun and playful.

Winter Wonderland:

Warm - Coffee Shop - Very Incandescent feeling.

Spirit of Christmas:

Warm, bright, and fairly simple.

Mary Did You Know

Begin very cool, restrained, and small to create a large amount of contrast when the song gets incredibly large. At the largest parts, go very bright and warm. Bring it back to the restrained and cool starting point at the close of the song.

Hark The Herald Angels Sing:

Much like Mary Did You Know, begin more simple and restrained, then go large with the music. An orange and purple/pink color palette blend very nicely for this song.

Noel (He Is Born):

Just like Mary Did You Know and Hark, start restrained (Dimmer intensities are your friend for this song). A warm and warm white color palette works very well with this song. There are two very strong shifts in the song. Build up halfway for the first "he is born" and then take it to 100% with the "NOELLLL" key change.

(While this is the same concept multiple times in a row, it is ultimately what is motivated by the music selection.)

O Come All Ye Faithful:

Start gentle, and really build with this song. There are multiple instrumentals that get slightly larger each time, so match the energy and build with it, but also drop with it. Oranges and Whites work very nicely for this song.

Drummer Boy:

Should be spectacular. A saturated blue and white color palette work very nicely for this song. This is another song where the lighting needs to build with the music. The first verse begins very small, and the third is huge. Lighting should do the same. An example would be to not use the "tall skinny boi's" during the first verse, then to have them on with no effects during the second, and finally use some effects for the third verse. After that, the song is all about whatever it takes to keep energy going.

Face light can be dropped out so long as there is enough light behind the musicians to see the drums, but face should come back in any time the vocalists are singing.
